Damen Oskarshamnsvarvet has signed an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with Kustbevakningen, the Swedish Coastguard (KBV), for a modernization and modification project on the vessel KBV 181. The vessel was built as a patrol boat, but will after modification serve as a combination vessel, for both patrol and oil recovery. It is used also by Umeå Marine Forskningscenter (UMF) for research and environmental monitoring in the Gulf of Bothnia.

Hung Hua Construction of Taiwan has ordered a third Damen Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) to add to the two it ordered at the start of the year. This latest vessel will be a Damen FCS 2610. The contract was signed by the two parties at the start of September and, with the vessel already on stock at Damen Shipyards Singapore, it will be delivered this month following finishing and some customization. It will be the company’s first operational vessel.

Proman Stena Bulk Ltd has this week finalized an agreement with Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) in China to build two state of the art IMOIIMeMAX methanol-ready 49,900 DWT vessels, with the first vessel due for delivery at the beginning of 2022. This represents the first deal signed by the newly-created joint venture between Swedish Stena Bulk and the Swiss-based Proman Shipping.

Ampelmann, the Dutch offshore access provider, has announced that it has a new full motion compensation system in the pipeline. The E5000 is the latest development brought forward by the company, with the ability to transfer personnel as well as cargo up to 5,000kg in rough waters offshore. It is expected to be operational in Q3 2020.

Norwegian advanced Offshore Service Vessel (OSV) owner and operator Golden Energy Offshore has reported that its long-term collaboration on vessel performance monitoring with Kongsberg Maritime and deployment of the containerized SAVe Energy battery system earlier this year is delivering operational fuel savings of 20%.

Rocktree Consulting, a division of Singapore-headquartered transhipment and logistics group Rocktree, has completed the front-end engineering and design (FEED) for a new floating terminal for the Bauxite Hills Mine, operated by Australia’s Metro Mining Limited.

The technology group Wärtsilä and Singapore-based PSA Marine have agreed to collaborate in the co-creation of smart technologies for the marine sector. The focus will be on solutions that are human-centric and deployable. The Letter of Intent was signed on November 14 as part of the events celebrating the anniversary of the opening of the Wärtsilä Acceleration Centre in Singapore.
