Damen Shipyards Group has unveiled a Ballast Water Pre-Filtration Barge (BWPF) to assist vessels in complying with the IMO’s Ballast Water Management Convention. The new legislation came into force on September 8th this year and Damen Green Solutions has prepared a range of products and services to assist its clients in meeting the requirements of the new legislation.

Damen Shipyards congratulates the Mexican Navy for the flagging and entering into service of their two new dredgers, among which is the Damen Cutter Suction Dredger (CSD) 650 ARM Laguna Morelos (ADR-19). The dredger will undertake various dredging, depth maintenance and land reclamation projects in the Gulf of Mexico; the first project being the dredging of the River Grijalba, assigned to the Mexican Navy by the Mexican Federal Government.

On behalf of its client Van Oord, subsea technology company Seatools completed the delivery of a CT umbilical winch. The winch will power Van Oord’s new subsea trencher “Deep Dig It,” which will be deployed during cable installation operations at an offshore wind farm later this year.

The Miros RangeFinder sea state monitoring sensor is now available with Atex IEC Ex certification for use in Zone 1, clearing it for use in explosive atmospheres. This breakthrough opens for unrestricted use of RangeFinder in offshore oil and gas production environments. The motion compensated version of the Miros RangeFinder, WaveFinder, is also certified for use in Zone 1.

Kongsberg Digital (KDI) says it has just been awarded its first K-Sim Safety simulator contract with the Norwegian Sea Rescue Society (NSRS). Under the terms of the agreement, KDI has committed to deliver a brand-new, cutting-edge K-Sim Safety Advanced Fire Fighting Simulator (AFFS) to the NSRS for installation in its Horten-based training center in Norway. As a long-term customer, the new simulator joins several KONGSBERG simulators already being used to train NSRS personnel.

RH Marine has developed a special dynamic positioning (DP) system for plough boats that equalize the seabed after dredging. RH Marine also participated in a study for a faster offshore installation of monopiles for wind turbines by dynamically positioned ships.
