Shell’s Appomattox, located in the Gulf of Mexico about 80 miles south of New Orleans, is the first high temperature project to gain Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) approval and begin production. The permitting work for the Appomattox project, which saw first oil in May 2019, helped define and clarify the safety requirements in BSEE’s recently published high pressure and high temperature (HP/HT) related guidance documents.

The Liza Destiny FPSO is currently sailing to Guyana, having recently departed from Keppel shipyard in Singapore. This key milestone follows a record turnaround time of just over 20 months for its construction phase by SBM Offshore – including module construction at nearby Dyna-Mac yard.

Schlumberger has been awarded a 20-year subsea equipment and services master contract for subsea development projects in the Gulf of Mexico by Chevron U.S.A. Combining this master contract with a preapproved catalog of standard subsea equipment will enable Chevron to decrease operating costs in its subsea projects.
