International oilfield services company Expro has been awarded a contract by Pacific Drilling LLC’s subsidiary, Pacific Santa Ana, Ltd, for the provision of an Intervention Riser System (IRS) for PETRONAS’s Chinguetti Field Phase II plug and abandonment (P&A) contract, offshore Mauritania.

A recent week-long operation included accurate remote configuration of the positioning systems onboard the FPSO, the assisting anchor handling vessel and the dive support vessel, with no Fugro survey crew offshore. This is the first fully remote FPSO heading control operation in the North Sea, enabling significant operational cost savings and de-risking through a reduction of offshore personnel.

The Dales Voe decommissioning facility in Shetland is one step closer to becoming a center of excellence for recycling offshore structures from the North Sea with the arrival of two new installations for decommissioning by strategic partners Veolia and Peterson. The structures from Spirit Energy’s ST-1 arrived in the dedicated port facility on 15 July.

NKT has been awarded a turnkey project from Lundin Norway AS for the 132 kV high-voltage power cable connecting the Edvard Grieg oil and gas production platform to the Johan Sverdrup field center. The power cable solution will finalize the Utsira High Power Hub Project to power several oil and gas fields with renewable power from shore.

Aker BP is about to complete the Liatårnet exploration well in license 442 in the NOAKA area. The well has proved oil with a gross resource estimate of 80-200 mmboe. Further data acquisition and analysis will be undertaken to determine the drainage strategy and recovery factor for the discovery.

Eni has started the early production phase from the Miztón field in Area 1, located in the Campeche Bay offshore Mexico. This is the first step in the development of Area 1, estimated to hold 2.1 billion of oil equivalent in place (90% oil) in the Amoca, Miztón and Tecoalli fields. Eni acquired Area 1 in a competitive bid round in September 2015.
