The main development in Kazakhstan’s Kashagan field is D-Island, a structure built on recovered land that typically outputs 340,000 barrels per day. Due to reaching the end of its service life, both its flare tips required replacement. This work was to be carried out during a tight shutdown window.

Local wave and weather conditions are critical factors when undertaking offshore operations, and time is money when operators are waiting on weather. Real-time wave measurements can dispel some of the guesswork historically associated with the planning and execution of marine operations such as pipe laying, subsea installations, heavy lifting operations, work-overs, or inspections.

Norwegian advanced Offshore Service Vessel (OSV) owner and operator Golden Energy Offshore has reported that its long-term collaboration on vessel performance monitoring with Kongsberg Maritime and deployment of the containerized SAVe Energy battery system earlier this year is delivering operational fuel savings of 20%.

Climate change is real. And nowhere is its impact being felt, observed, and measured more than on our oceans. Rising sea levels, polar ice melt, and devastating storms are just some of the issues facing mariners and O&G workers the world over. So, policies, procedures, and technologies are responding to these changes for the safety and security of people and assets – offshore and in coastal regions.

Global leader in emergency readiness and response, Orolia, reveals details of the next evolution in life-saving technology, the FastFind ReturnLink PLB with Return Link System (RLS) capabilities.

Communication via the Internet is a matter of course today, also at sea. Fast Internet for maritime applications is made available via satellite. Automatic tracking antennas compensate for the rolling, pitching and yawing of the ships in order to maintain the connection to the satellite.
