When the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) specced their newest research vessel, they looked to Teknicraft and All American Marine for the hull design and Furuno for electronics. Their new 50' semi-displacement catamaran, launched with a full suite of quality Furuno marine electronics, is ready to assist in their research missions in the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary (OCNMS) in Washington State.

Nexans has further strengthened its offering in the offshore wind and interconnector market by unveiling its second cable-laying vessel, the Nexans Aurora, to customers and stakeholders at a dedicated ceremony in Halden, Norway, on September 22, 2021.

Rising shipping costs have impacted numerous sectors, but they have been felt particularly hard among industries that normally utilize heavy lift vessels. This has made some transportations unviable and also resulted in a growing need for ports with greater crane capacity, as ports now need to be able to perform the offloading of increasingly heavy items from non-geared cargo vessels. Without this capability, entire regions risk losing out on newer, more complex construction projects.

Classification society DNV and the Liberian International Ship & Corporate Registry (LISCR) have awarded an Approval in Principle (AiP) to Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) and Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering CO. (KSOE) for a new 40,000 CBM liquified CO2 carrier design. The handover of the AiP certificate took place during the Gastech trade fair in Dubai.

The organizers of Ocean Business have announced the launch of a new, free-to-attend conference at next month’s event, which takes place on 12-14 October at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton, UK. Running across all three days of the show, the new conference features a program delivered by thought leaders in ocean technology.
