Leading offshore wind developers Flotation Energy and Vårgrønn, a joint venture between Plenitude (Eni) and HitecVision, have announced that its floating offshore wind project Green Volt has been granted full onshore planning approval. This marks a significant milestone in the development of the most progressed commercial-scale floating wind farm in Europe. Green Volt is 50% owned by Flotation Energy and 50% by Vårgrønn.

Mooreast Holdings Ltd. (“Mooreast”) has secured an order to supply its proprietary anchors for a pre-commercial floating offshore wind farm. Located off the French coast of Port-La Nouvelle and Gruissan in Southern France, Eolmed is a project developed by Qair, a European independent energy company, with TotalEnergies and floating technology supplier BW Ideol.

Between January 2023 and February 2024, TDI-Brooks conducted an extensive site investigation program in two offshore wind blocks in state and federal waters. The projects involved surveying in excess of 20,000 line-kilometers of analogue and either single or multi-channel seismic in lease blocks and cable routes along the coasts of New York and New Jersey. Various tasks were carried out at different stages, such as offshore geophysical surveys, UHRS detailed surveys, archaeological identification surveys, light geotechnical coring, and benthic sampling.

Bureau Veritas (BV), a global leader in testing, inspection, and certification (TIC), has awarded the Dutch-Norwegian renewable energy company SolarDuck the world’s first Prototype Certification for a floating offshore solar technology, as applied in SolarDuck’s 0.5 MW pilot "Merganser". This certification represents a significant step forward in the development of marine renewable energy technologies for offshore applications.

Avangrid, Inc. (Avangrid), a leading sustainable energy company and member of the Iberdrola Group, submitted multiple proposals for mature, transformative New England Wind projects to the Massachusetts-Connecticut-Rhode Island multi-state solicitation for offshore wind power. New England Wind, representing two projects—the 791 Megawatt (MW) New England Wind 1 project and 1,080 MW New England Wind 2 project—are among the most mature offshore wind opportunities in the nation, with the ability to achieve commercial operations before the end of the decade, delivering an urgent energy, climate, and economic solution to the region.

The Oceantic Network, the leading organization working to advance offshore wind and other ocean renewable industries and their supply chains, celebrates the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM)’s announcement that member-companies Eversource and Ørsted are approved to begin construction on their Sunrise Wind offshore wind energy project.
