Ampelmann, the Dutch offshore access provider, has announced that it has a new full motion compensation system in the pipeline. The E5000 is the latest development brought forward by the company, with the ability to transfer personnel as well as cargo up to 5,000kg in rough waters offshore. It is expected to be operational in Q3 2020.

The technology group Wärtsilä and Singapore-based PSA Marine have agreed to collaborate in the co-creation of smart technologies for the marine sector. The focus will be on solutions that are human-centric and deployable. The Letter of Intent was signed on November 14 as part of the events celebrating the anniversary of the opening of the Wärtsilä Acceleration Centre in Singapore.

Hung Hua Construction of Taiwan has ordered a third Damen Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) to add to the two it ordered at the start of the year. This latest vessel will be a Damen FCS 2610. The contract was signed by the two parties at the start of September and, with the vessel already on stock at Damen Shipyards Singapore, it will be delivered this month following finishing and some customization. It will be the company’s first operational vessel.

RINA, one of the global leading classification societies, has signed an agreement with the augmented and virtual reality innovator VRMedia to boost the development of remote inspection technologies to carry out ship inspections by interacting with the surveyor remotely, utilizing VRMedia’s Kiber system.

In 2017, Barzan Holdings QSTP-LLC and KONGSBERG established a new company for technology development programs. The company, BK Systems, has its main office in Qatar Science & Technology Park, and KONGSBERG is holding the CEO position. The park is an innovation hub for leading international industry and universities. The MOU signed today in Doha, clarifies the two companies’ joint efforts within digitalization in the maritime domain in Qatar.
