Subsea 7 has announced the award of a sizeable contract by Chevron U.S.A Inc. for the subsea installation services at the St. Malo field, located in the Walker Ridge area of the Gulf of Mexico. The St. Malo field is approximately 250 miles south of New Orleans.

Maersk Drilling has entered into an agreement with a subsidiary of Shelf Drilling, Ltd. to sell the jack-up rig Maersk Completer for USD 38m in an all-cash transaction. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, and the rig is expected to be delivered in January 2020.

Aberdeen based production optimization specialist, Enpro Subsea has rounded off 2019 with the granting of supplementary patents which underpin and expand its already robust technology portfolio and further strengthens its offering to the global subsea market.  

A recent report by the Ghana Ports and Harbor Authority states, “Total cargo traffic for both ports (Tema and Takoradi) grew from 19,459,834 tonnes in 2016 to 22,086,626 tonnes in 2017, registering a 13 per cent increase.

The technology group Wärtsilä has been awarded Lloyd’s Register (LR) system-level cyber certification for its network architecture relating to Wärtsilä’s integrated main and auxiliary machinery. The LR’s ShipRight SAFE AL2 certification, which is with Wärtsilä’s Data Collection Unit (WDCU), gives Approval-in-Principle (AiP) for the entire Wärtsilä integrated system network, rather than for any individual component. The certification is one of the first of its kind to be awarded globally.

Maersk Drilling has secured a three-well contract for the semi-submersible rig Maersk Discoverer with BP for development drilling at the Matapal project offshore Trinidad and Tobago. The contract has an estimated duration of 322 days and is expected to commence in July 2020. The value of the firm contract is approximately USD 78m, including a mobilization fee. The contract contains an additional one-well option.
