In the 2000’s national oil companies (NOCs) investing abroad were viewed as new competition to the international oil companies (IOCs). NOCs began acquiring international assets, whether to bolster security of supply for their growing economies, for energy diplomacy or simply to generate new profit streams abroad capitalizing on their domestic capabilities.

Maersk Drilling has been awarded a contract for the 7th generation drillship Maersk Valiant which will be employed by Noble Energy for a one-well campaign offshore Colombia. The contract is expected to commence in Q3 2020, in direct continuation of the rig’s previous contract. The contract has an estimated duration of 65 days and a contract value of USD 18.2m, including mobilization and demobilization fees.

Subsea 7 has been awarded a very large(1) contract by Woodside(2) to Subsea Integration Alliance(3) for the Sangomar Field Development Phase-1 project located in the Sangomar Offshore and Sangomar Offshore Deep oil blocks, offshore Senegal. This contract was initially awarded in December 2018 subject to final investment decision, which has now occurred.

CSA Ocean Sciences Inc. (CSA), a marine environmental consulting firm that specializes in multidisciplinary projects concerning potential impacts of activities in coastal and marine ecosystems, today announced that Mr. Jason Clermont has joined the Team at CSA’s Northeast Regional Office, as a Project Scientist. Mr. Clermont will use his wide-ranging experience to support a variety of CSA’s global scientific efforts.

On 14th January, Gentium and Damen Shipyards Group signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Industry of Bangladesh in Dhaka. Also present at the signing ceremony were representatives of the Netherlands Embassy in Bangladesh, who are supporting Gentium-Damen in their undertaking.

Deep Down, Inc. a specialist in subsea oil and gas production control equipment and services, has received orders from two independent oil and gas operators for emergency umbilical repairs. Both projects include design, engineering and the manufacture of associated umbilical accessories.

Equinor and its partners in the Statfjord area have identified and approved plans to extend production from the field towards 2040. A new business plan will ensure even higher use of resources, extract more value from the field, and allow plans for decommissioning Statfjord A in 2022 to be deferred.
