Aker Solutions and Principle Power have been awarded a US Floating Offshore Wind Readiness Prize which will set forth an ambitious vision to establish a sustainable and competitive domestic supply chain ecosystem to deliver floating offshore wind projects in the United States.

Offshore wind is key in the transition to a low-carbon economy. The sector has experienced tremendous growth in recent years: countries that border the North Sea regularly multiply their gigawatt capacity targets; the US is expanding rapidly; and Asia Pacific is catching up fast. But is having the ambition to hit net zero in 2050 enough?

With nine Phase One winners named, the first phase of the three-phase American-Made FLoating Offshore Wind ReadINess (FLOWIN) Prize has concluded, kicking off Phase Two. Each Phase One winner will receive $100,000 in cash and $75,000 in vouchers for technical support provided by the U.S. Department of Energy’s national laboratories, along with an invitation to compete in Phase Two of the competition.
