Viper Innovations, a UK company specialising in maximising the operational life of subsea controls and electrical distribution equipment, has appointed a new distributor to improve its service offering and share of the Nigerian offshore oil and gas market.

National Oil Corporation (NOC) and Eni announce that Mellitah Oil & Gas, Eni and NOC joint venture company (50/50), has started production from the first well of the offshore Bahr Essalam Phase 2 project. This comes just three years after the final investment decision. Two further wells will begin production within a week. An additional seven wells will come on-stream by October 2018.

Shell Exploration and Production Mauritania (C-10) B.V. and Shell Exploration and Production Mauritania (C-19) B.V. (“Shell”) have signed two Production Sharing Contracts with the government of Mauritania for the exploration and potential future production of hydrocarbons in the offshore blocks C-10 and C-19.

In support of President Donald J. Trump's America-First Offshore Energy Strategy, Deputy Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt announced that the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) will offer approximately 78 million acres offshore Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida for oil and gas exploration and development.

Equinor and Barra Energia (“Barra”) have signed an agreement for Equinor to acquire Barra’s 10% interest in the BM-S-8 license in Brazil’s Santos basin. This transaction will enable Equinor and its partners to fully align interests across the two licenses for the Carcará area.

Enterprise Products Partners L.P. announced it is planning to develop an offshore crude oil export terminal off the Texas Gulf Coast. The terminal would be capable of fully loading Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCC), which have capacities of approximately 2 million barrels and provide the most efficient and cost-effective solution to export crude oil to the largest international markets in Asia and Europe.

Mozambique Rovuma Venture has submitted the development plan to the government for the first phase of the Rovuma LNG project, which will produce, liquefy and market natural gas from the Mamba fields located in the Area 4 block offshore Mozambique.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Energy has approved the plan for development and operation (PDO) for the Snorre Expansion Project. Investments of just above NOK 19 billion (2017) will increase recovery from the Snorre field by almost 200 million barrels and extend the field life beyond 2040.

Carnarvon Petroleum Limited confirms that the QuadrantCarnarvon Joint Venture has made a significant oil discovery in the Caley Member as part of the current Dorado-1 well drilling campaign.
