SLPE Marks Significant Progress in Offshore Substation Construction

Independent engineering consultancy, SLPE, is thrilled to witness the realization of its offshore substation (OSS) substructure design as both the substructure and platform for Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm begin to take shape, representing visible progress for this significant Scottish project.

Joseph Hilton, Managing Director of SLPE, expressed his enthusiasm: “We are delighted to witness our hard work on this project for Inch Cape materializing. Our OSS jacket design is set to withstand the harsh conditions of the North Sea, and we eagerly anticipate its completion and installation. I am immensely proud of everyone at SLPE for their dedication and expertise.”

Sam Lawes, Head of OSS Substructures at SLPE, added: “The Inch Cape substation project is a testament to our department's capability in delivering exceptional OSS substructure designs. Our highly skilled team of engineers has drawn upon their extensive experience to design a structure that meets the most rigorous standards in the offshore wind industry.”

The assembly and fit-out of the offshore substation platform and jacket foundation for the 1.1 GW Inch Cape offshore wind farm are currently underway at the Smulders yard in Wallsend, Newcastle, UK. A consortium of Siemens Energy and Iemants, a Smulders subsidiary, is responsible for delivering the offshore substation for the Scottish project, located 15 kilometers off the Angus coast.

Inch Cape is owned by Inch Cape Offshore Wind Limited, a joint venture by Red Rock Power and ESB.
