Ampelmann Contracted for Operations in Gulf for Mexico

Dutch offshore access provider Ampelmann has secured a contract with marine transportation company Harvey Gulf from its local office in Houston, Texas. The company will perform maintenance work at an Oil and Gas (O&G) platform in the Gulf of Mexico. An A-type system has been mobilized on the Harvey Blue Sea vessel and will operate for 120 days.

“We are very excited about this collaboration with Harvey Gulf, as this is the first time we are working with one of the prestigious US vessel owners. Together we are offering a premier Walk to Work (W2W) vessel and system combination for the US Gulf of Mexico market,” says Gus DeOliveira, Americas Sales Lead at Ampelmann.

The A-type has an unparalleled track record in the Walk to Work (W2W) industry and makes it possible for personnel to transfer safely from a vessel to a fixed or floating offshore asset in high sea states. To date, the system has enabled the safe transfer of more than 3.4 million people as well as 200 projects, many of which for some of the key oil majors globally.

For this campaign, which started in mid-April, the A-type was installed on an Ampelmann 10-metre pedestal, making it possible to reach landing locations of 20 meters and higher. Ampelmann will be operating on a 24/7 basis, providing the client with more time flexibility and an extended weather window.

“We are pleased to have formed a partnership with Ampelmann, as this relationship will continue to broaden the services that Harvey’s Construction Vessels already provide,” Shane J. Guidry, CEO of Harvey Gulf, commented. “Today we jointly have work bid throughout the US Gulf of Mexico, Guyana, and West Africa and we look forward to providing safe excellent service (SES) to all our clients globally.”

Ampelmann is committed to expanding its reach in the Americas and bringing an ever-higher standard of safety to the region’s W2W and Crew Change markets. The company recently secured its first contract in Mexican waters, where another A-type system is enabling the installation of an O&G platform. It has also been operating in Trinidad & Tobago since 2010 and, as of a few years ago, in Brazil and Venezuela, too.

This is the first collaboration between the two companies. “We are looking forward to a successful campaign in the Gulf of Mexico and to continuing to work together with Harvey Gulf in the future,” says DeOliveira.

Ampelmann will be exhibiting at OTC Houston 2019 and will showcase its very own VR Experience. Visit the company at stand 1629, NRG Park, Houston, Texas on 6-9 May.
