The State of Cyber Security in the Energy Sector

Research from DNV reveals that energy professionals expect more extreme cyber-attacks in the next two years. More than 80% think an attack is likely to cause operational shutdowns and damage to assets. Three quarters (74%) expect harm to the environment. Over half (57%) anticipate an attack to cause loss of life.

As industrial systems become increasingly network connected, the energy industry is waking up to the emerging cyber threat. But our research finds defensive action to be lagging. This draws parallels to the industry’s physical safety practices 50 years ago, where it took tragic events for the sector to institutionalize safety protocols, standards, and regulation.

The Cyber Priority provides analysis from a global survey of more than 940 energy professionals and includes in-depth interviews with industry experts and leaders. I invite you to download a complimentary copy for new insight on:

  • the state of cyber security in the sector
  • where investment blind spots may be appearing
  • practical advice on tackling emerging security risks.
