WFS Technologies Enters a New Era to Support Growth Plans

WFS Technologies, a global leader in the Subsea Internet of Things (SIOT®) devices, is embarking on a major transformation program to manage its rapid business expansion and ensure consistent quality and delivery of its product line.

The company also aims to capitalize on its range of smart products launched over the last year.

To enable a smooth transition and seamless delivery of products for its customers, WFS has appointed Peter Sharpe as interim CEO, taking over from Brendan Hyland who is stepping down after founding the firm more than 17 years ago in 2003.

Peter, who was formerly a non-executive director of WFS, brings a wealth of experience. His career has included being Project Director of Digitization for the UK Ministry of Defense, and a Director of Operations for Jacobs. Peter will be working closely with WFS’s existing management team during the transition period.

He said: “WFS has established itself as a major disruptor in the marketplace by developing game-changing technology which improves safety, increases operational flexibility, reduces costs and extends asset life. As the business enters another exciting new era, I look forward to working with the team to further build on the company’s success.

“Brendan Hyland remains a shareholder and a valued part of the business. The WFS team also remains deeply indebted to Brendan for his drive and energy in founding WFS and getting the company to where it is today.”

WFS is a world leader in subsea digitalization through its range of true wireless Subsea Internet of Things® (SIoT) products that provide offshore operators with asset integrity monitoring with embedded edge computing for real-time insight.

The company has delivered more than 7,000 of its proprietary Seatooth® devices through its team of dedicated software and hardware engineers based in Livingston, Scotland.

Last year, WFS won two awards for its ground-breaking technology. The firm was named TheSpectator’s prestigious Economic Disruptor of the Year for its pioneering work on subsea digitalization while they also picked up won Oil & Gas UK’s Business Innovation accolade for its Seatooth® technology.

An industry first, the wireless Seatooth® products have the potential to disrupt the offshore energy industry by providing operators of oil and gas platforms and wind farm installations with the ability to digitalize their subsea assets, reducing cost and increasing asset life through insight derived from real-time data.
