SubCableWorld (SCW) and the Business Network for Offshore Wind (The Network) have formed a partnership to promote offshore wind energy.

The report will be made available to SCW readers and members of The Network. Other details of the agreement were not released.

Liz Burdock, CEO & President of The Network, said, “The development of the offshore wind cable supply chain will be a key factor in the offshore wind market in the United States. The growth of the U.S. supply chain is what is needed to drive down the cost and allow offshore wind to grow and provide a major part of the renewable energy portfolio mix. The partnership between The Network and SCW will help toward that goal.”

“We are thrilled to be partnering with The Network. The offshore wind market in the United States is about to take off to a level that could not even be imagined a couple of years ago. With this will come a huge market for submarine cables to connect the turbines to each other and to the onshore grid. It is important for the supply chain in the U.S. to be developed to meet the demand for cables and the marine services related to the installation and maintenance of those cables. To do this, companies will need good market data. SCW and The Network can now work together to provide the best information available and disseminate through the network to those in the supply chain that need it,” said John Manock, Editor, SubCableWorld.

A strengthening market for submarine fiber optics indicates an increasing dependency on global connectivity and underscores the need for in-depth industry data to evaluate future opportunities in the telecommunications and submarine optic industry.
