Managing Director of Del Norte Technology, Laurie Smith, recently announced his retirement after more than 50 years in the business. Del Norte, the UK partner company to HYPACK, officially closed with Laurie’s retirement. Swathe Services will now take on responsibility for sales and maintenance of HYPACK software solutions. The company will continue to run bi-annual Multi-Beam Echo Sounder HYPACK training courses to improve surveyors’ knowledge and efficiency using HYPACK software.

Arundo Analytics, a software company enabling advanced analytics in heavy industry, has announced the addition of three members to its Board of Directors: Stuart Morstead, current COO and Co-founder of Arundo Analytics; Tore Myrholt, Senior External Advisor of McKinsey & Co.; and Thomas Malone, the Patrick J. McGovern Professor of Management at the MIT Sloan School of Management and the founding director of the MIT Center for Collective Intelligence.

Saipem announces that with effect from November 15, 2018, Stefano Cavacini will assume the role of Chief Financial Officer of Saipem SpA. with responsibility for Administration, Finance and Control.

The technology group Wärtsilä has decided to reorganize into two business areas, Wärtsilä Marine Business and Wärtsilä Energy Business, covering both new sales and services for the respective markets. With this change, Wärtsilä aims to deliver increased value to its customers by better serving their needs across the full lifecycle. The new organizational structure will be operational as of 1 January 2019.

The board of Autonomous Robotics Ltd (ARL) reports a collaboration with Robert Gordon University (RGU) on swarm technology research (Swarm Technology) of a simultaneous, distributed and scalable localization system for a swarm of autonomous underwater sensor flying nodes. The purpose of this research is to further enhance the capability of the flying node system and further reduce the cost and time for ocean bottom seismic surveys.

Ocean Specialists, Inc (OSI), a leading system development and advisory firm for telecommunications network solutions, has announced that the installation of the South Atlantic Cable System (SACS) is complete. SACS is the first direct link between Africa and South America. The Provisional Acceptance certificate was signed at a ceremony in Luanda by Angola Cables CEO, António Nunes and NEC Corporation Project Manager, Hiroshi Kawakami.
