Motive Offshore’s Fabrication Division Sees Growing Demand

Motive Offshore Group, specialist in the manufacture, rental and servicing of subsea assets, has seen demand for its Fabrication services grow significantly over the past 18 months, with a turnover increase of over 115%.

In addition to expanding its fabrication division at the company’s Aberdeenshire HQ, fabrication activity has been rolled out across a number of key UK ports, including Peterhead, Aberdeen, Montrose and Blyth in Northumberland.

The shift in gear has been overseen by Colin Forsyth, Motive Fabrication General Manager, who was appointed just under two years ago. He was tasked with providing clients with an enhanced fabrication service, in line with the company’s implementation of a global expansion strategy.

Building on Motive’s reputation in fabricating back-deck equipment, 2018/19 saw the introduction of a holistic fabrication service which Colin believes is responsible for the increase in contract wins, in both the offshore oil & gas and renewable energy sectors.

The development of the Fabrication division has seen vessel work scopes become a regular feature, with Motive’s experienced, multi-disciplined team ready to mobilize across the North Sea for short-notice vessel mob/demob port calls and utilising a ‘one lift’, fully equipped welding workshop container.

Colin comments: “With a highly experienced back-deck fabrication workforce already in place, it was clear that we could offer a turnkey fabrication service, which includes not only the production of assets, but also the associated installation, modification and maintenance.

“In doing so, our client base - many of whom sit within the Tier One supplier bracket – appreciate the economic benefits of our inclusive back-deck service, in addition to the time and planning efficiencies achieved via the use of one supplier.”

James Gregg, Motive Offshore COO added: “Motive Fabrication has matured into a different beast over the past two years; its success is based on an innate confidence in the services we provide. The extensive experience across the company cannot be under-estimated and has led to the continual development of our services.

“Our motto is “Back-Deck and Beyond” and the development of our Fabrication division provides succinct illustration of that confidence we – and our clients – have in our highly transferable skillset.”
