A final rule from the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) was announced to protect taxpayers from covering costs that should be borne by the oil and gas industry when offshore platforms require decommissioning. With this action—which updates 20-year-old regulations—BOEM has substantially strengthened financial assurance requirements for the offshore oil and gas industry operating on the US Outer Continental Shelf (OCS).

Borr Drilling Limited is pleased to announce new contract commitments for three of its premium jack-up rigs, the “Prospector 1”, the “Gunnlod”, and a rig to be determined. The commitments total 820 days and $158.6 million in contract revenue, inclusive of mobilization and demobilization compensation.

SLB has been awarded three contracts by Petrobras for completion hardware and services for up to 35 subsea wells in the development of Petrobras’ offshore Buzios Wave II oilfield. The scope of the contract includes SLB’s full bore electric interval control valves and electric subsurface safety valves. The award is a catalyst toward full production system electrification for Petrobras, improving production availability via more reliable completions.

Specialist provider of offshore support services, Interocean Marine Services (Interocean) announces an offshore demonstration of the Flyability Elios 3 UT drone. Providing accurate readings ten times faster than traditional methods, the ultrasonic thickness measurement (UTM) payload for the Elios 3 drone is a step change in integrity inspection.

ExxonMobil Guyana has awarded Strohm a TCP “Jumper On Demand” contract for the supply of TCP for the Whiptail project. This brings the project count for the Netherlands-based manufacturer to three for ExxonMobil Guyana, following previous awards for the Yellowtail and Uaru projects. This latest award marks the largest commercial award for pipe supply in the company’s 16-year history.

SBM Offshore announces that ExxonMobil Guyana Limited (“EMGL”) has confirmed the award of contracts for the Whiptail development project located in the Stabroek Block in Guyana. Under these contracts, SBM Offshore will construct and install FPSO Jaguar. Ownership will transfer to EMGL prior to the FPSO’s installation in Guyana, and SBM Offshore expects to operate the FPSO for 10 years under the Operations and Maintenance Enabling Agreement signed in 2023. The award follows completion of front-end engineering and design studies, receipt of requisite government approvals and the final investment decision on the project by ExxonMobil and block co-venturers.

Norwegian state-owned company Petoro has awarded a frame agreement to AGR for the provision of independent consultancy and third-party verification studies within subsurface, drilling and wells, and field development.
