James Fisher (JFD Global), a global provider of specialist marine and defense solutions enabling mission success at sea, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore future collaboration across a wide spectrum of advanced naval and underwater technologies.
The MoU with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) a leading Indian multinational engaged in technology, engineering, and manufacturing outlines a shared intent to jointly pursue opportunities in areas critical to next-generation maritime operations.
The collaboration will focus on the entire gamut of underwater technologies, including co-development of naval autonomous systems, diving systems and uncrewed underwater vehicles. The agreement will also encourage collaboration between both parties on subsystems for divers and submarines - such as gas monitoring systems and other underwater technologies.
The MoU outlines mutual interest in participating in naval programs in India and international markets, leveraging the combined expertise and global reach of both JFD and L&T.
An ambition to explore joint efforts in the education and training of divers, particularly in lock-in/lock-out operations forms part of the MoU. In addition to knowledge-sharing and technical solutions to improve and support the safety and effectiveness of diving operations.
JFD has been present in India since 2016 having signed a contract with the Indian Navy to supply two non-tethered submarine rescue systems along with a 25-years, All Inclusive Annual Maintenance Contract (AIAMC) until 2047.
In late 2024, JFD Global signed a contract with the Indian Navy for the supply of specialist underwater vehicles along with support combat diving equipment, further leveraging JFD’s position in India.
