Fugro Honored with US Offshore Wind Industry Ventus Award

Fugro has received a Ventus Award for Advancement in Project Siting and Development from the Business Network for Offshore Wind. The award recognizes the company’s work with Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind (Atlantic Shores) to implement a centralised, cloud-hosted Geo-data engagement platform using Fugro’s Gaia.Hub technology.

Online since April, the Gaia.Hub solution has enabled Atlantic Shores’ internal and external teams shared access to authoritative project Geo-data, facilitating faster decision-making and accelerated timelines on critical milestones. Atlantic Shores plans to use the solution to support regulatory reporting requirements, including submittal of their Construction and Operations Plan to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management this winter. An industry first, this digital deliverables approach will help advance multiple industry goals, including faster regulatory review, increased transparency and improved public trust.

Liz Burdock, President and CEO of the Business Network for Offshore Wind said, “Data management is a critical factor for all developers and industry stakeholders. Fugro’s Gaia.Hub platform addresses the need to gather all relevant Geo-data on a single digital platform. It is a valuable tool that has potential to be used by many in the industry to improve permitting, making Geo-data easier to access and more transparent.”

Andrew Cooper, Offshore Wind Lead for Fugro in the Americas, said: “We are honored to have won this award and feel very fortunate to be supporting Atlantic Shores with our Gaia.Hub technology. Their collaboration on the implementation was instrumental to ensuring a tailored solution that will support not only project siting and development, but can also carry through to construction, operations and maintenance. We look forward to earning the opportunity to apply Gaia.Hub to these subsequent phases, and in the meantime applaud their commitment to sustainability and innovation as they move the energy transition forward in New Jersey.”

In addition to achieving top honours for Advancement in Project Siting and Development, Fugro was also a finalist for Health, Safety and Environment Programme of the Year. That recognition was based on the company’s early of adoption of a ‘Covid-19 Plan for Vessel Fleet’ in the US Atlantic Outer Continental Shelf. Initiated in February 2020, the plan has guided the safe continuation of site characterisation services for offshore wind clients throughout the pandemic.
