2020 IPF Livestream: Vessels

The Business Network for Offshore Wind’s 2020 International Partnering Forum (IPF) will host IPF Livestream: Vessels this Thursday, June 25. IPF has always been a platform for special industry announcements and this IPF Livestream session will be no different.

Dominion Energy will discuss its plans for the first Jones Act compliant installation vessel and provide an update on the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project—the first in federal waters. Attendees will also hear updates on the vessels market from Clarksons, a world leading maritime analyst. And a panel hosting designers and operators from MHI Vestas, Vard Marine U.S., and Foss Maritime will discuss how to work together to meet the demand for U.S. vessels that both meet OEM preferences/requirements while also being Jones Act compliant. Just added, NJ EDA will join to share the latest details on the $400 million Offshore Wind Port in New Jersey and upcoming opportunities for local supply chain businesses.

The Livestream series, taking place June through August, is a collection of events featuring high-level industry CEOs, experts, and public officials discussing market challenges, regional cooperation, innovation, grid transmission, the future of U.S. offshore wind and more.  The series will also feature offshore wind updates from coastal states representatives including New Jersey Gov. Murphy and Virginia Gov, Northam, and networking events like WindMatch™ one-on-one networking, CareerMatch™ virtual job fair, and an exhibit hall.

From Land to Sea: Technology Solutions for Offshore Wind Energy

11:00 a.m. EST

Technology innovations impact our industry daily, but what advances are around the corner and what do we, as an industry, need to think about? Ports and vessels play a vital role in developing an offshore wind project. Ports must look beyond simply providing an area to manufacture, assemble, and maintain offshore wind components and address how they respond to more automation and cybersecurity. Green innovations and autonomous vessel technology have matured rapidly in recent years and are poised to provide support to the U.S. offshore wind industry in new and promising ways. This workshop will present both the business cases for the use of innovation as well as discuss the near and long-term challenges of adapting new technology into the offshore wind energy sector.

Developer Town Hall with Dominion Energy

Noon EST

The Developer Town Hall provides an opportunity for IPF attendees to hear directly from offshore wind developers about the status and progress of U.S. projects. Dominion Energy's Grant T. Hollett, director of Generation Projects, will present an update on the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Project and the turbine installation taking place this summer. Audience questions are encouraged.

State of the State: New Jersey Offshore Wind Port

12:30 p.m. EST

Last week New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced the state’s plan to develop the largest U.S. offshore wind port, which will be the first U.S. port to act as an offshore wind staging area. New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJ EDA)’s Brian Sabina, senior vice president of economic transformation, will share the latest details on the port redevelopment and upcoming opportunities.
