US Tech Entrepreneur Tom Siebel to Give Keynote at ENGenious Online 2020

Tom Siebel, CEO of C3.ai, Silicon Valley businessman, and author of Digital Transformation: Survive and Thrive in an Era of Mass Extinction, is to give the keynote address at ENGenious Online, September 22 – 24, 2020, the sister event to SPE Offshore Europe focused on the digital future of the energy industry.

Registration opens August 6, 2020 for the event which will comprise paid-for conference content curated by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and an extensive program of free features for all registrants including speed networking, a managed concierge service for 1:1 meetings and digital technology showcases.   

The Oil & Gas Technology Centre’s (OGTC) recently launched ‘Code[Less]’ hackathon is being held alongside ENGenious Online with five teams of finalists presenting to the judging panel online before the winner is announced on the final morning. Scottish Enterprise is to host an ‘Innovation Pitch’ where digital SMEs will battle it out for votes and prizes while showcasing their innovations.

The streamlining of activities and the efficiencies gained through remote operations will continue as we move forward. The move to ENGenious Online reflects this approach. The conference program will include insights from experts, both from within and out with our industry, challenging us to pick up pace on this journey – learning from others and showcasing game changing technologies and collaboration approaches.”  

Tom Siebel will be joined in the welcome session by Tom Blasingame, SPE President 2021 and Sian Lloyd Rees, ENGenious Online 2020 Conference Chair.

Two plenary sessions will see CEO and global leader panelists from Accenture, Airbus, AstraZeneca, C3.ai, Microsoft and Wood share digital learnings from other industries and ABB, BP, Cognite, Halliburton, Oceaneering and Streamba will share examples from the energy industry and explore where future opportunities lie.  

Up to 40 speakers will take part in eight 90-minute technical sessions with topics including AI, borderless workplaces, future skills and the digital energy transition.  

Speaking about the Code[Less] hackathon which culminates at ENGenious Online on 24 September for winning presentations and prize giving, Colette Cohen OBE, CEO at the OGTC, said: “Current conditions, both COVID and pricing, are forcing accelerated change in our industry. To thrive in this environment, we need to have the right technology and data to power our decision making and we need to respond at pace. So, working with Microsoft and our data partners, we have created Code[Less] hackathon challenges to give participants the opportunity to upskill and gain access to its latest platforms and training while also stretching the best minds and teams. The Code[Less] hackathon is open to anyone who has a passion for finding creative solutions and has an interest in technology and data. This event is a first for our sector.
