All three of Equinor’s projects to deliver deep cuts in emissions from industries and support clean growth on the UK’s east coast have received public funding from UK authorities. With a combination of private and public funding, Equinor and its partners will now progress these projects in order to create the world’s first net zero industrial cluster by 2040.

Guyana has started the year with an exploration disappointment as a partner in the ExxonMobil-operated Canje block last week revealed that the first wildcat in the license failed to deliver. However, Rystad Energy expects exploration activity in the country to rebound with an annual record of 16 wells, including on the Stabroek block, also operated by ExxonMobil.

Equinor and partners Vår Energi and Petoro have struck oil in exploration well 7220/7-4 in production license 532 in the Barents Sea. Recoverable resources are so far estimated at between 5 and 8 million standard cubic meters of recoverable oil, corresponding to 31 – 50 million barrels of recoverable oil.

Subsea, trenching and excavation pioneer, Rotech Subsea, has completed a major well-head and jacket reburial scope in the North Sea for a leading international offshore marine services player. Rotech Subsea mobilized its next generation TRS2 Controlled Flow Excavation (CFE) and Suspended Jet Trenching tool to complete the jacket template and well-head reburial in the Southern North Sea in Q3, 2020. The Rotech RSG grab tool also assisted in the recovery of a PLET structure in the UK Southern Basin.

Fugro is conducting a seep survey and geochemical campaign in Block 48, offshore Suriname, for PETRONAS Suriname E&P B.V. (PSEPBV). PSEPBV is a subsidiary of PETRONAS, a global energy and solutions partner ranked amongst the largest corporations in the Fortune Global 500.

As part of the increasing demand for offshore surveillance, maritime analytics and data leader, GateHouse Maritime, has won a contract issued by gas transmission system operator, GAZ-SYSTEMS. With the 5-year contract, GateHouse Maritime will provide data analytics to automate monitoring of a new gas pipeline in the Baltic Sea which will deliver Norwegian gas to Danish and Polish households.

LFH Engineering, which is based in Scotland, has invested £250,000 to develop a specialist pump for the oil and gas industry, utilising expertise which it has built designing and manufacturing pumps for diesel engine cooling systems used on international shipping vessels, locomotive and emergency diesel generators to the nuclear industry.

CGG has announced phase two of its multi-client 3D survey in the Northern North Sea, which will expand on the phase one acquisition initiated in 2020 to add a second azimuth over CGG’s existing Northern Viking Graben (NVG) multi-client 3D survey and extend coverage into the UKCS. The survey is supported by industry pre-funding.
