Subsea Integration Alliance has announced the award of integrated subsea engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) contracts. These awards, by Esso Australia Pty Ltd, represent the first integrated subsea project for Subsea Integration Alliance in Australia combining OneSubsea and Subsea 7 expertise in subsea production systems (SPS) and subsea umbilical, riser and flowline (SURF) systems.

Eni has signed two Concession Agreements in Abu Dhabi, for the acquisition of a 70% stake in the Offshore Block 1 and Offshore Block 2 exploration areas for a duration of 35 years, leading a consortium including Thailand’s PTT Exploration and Production Company Limited (PTTEP) with the remaining 30% stake.

On 23 January 2019, the United States recognized Juan Guaido as the new interim President of Venezuela. This aligned with statements from the U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo that Nicolas Maduro is no longer the legitimate President of Venezuela. Two days later, the Trump Administration announced sanctions against that nation’s state-owned oil and natural gas company (PdVSA).

The Gullfaks partners have decided to drill seven new wells and thereby improve oil recovery by 17 million barrels with good profitability. On behalf of the licence partners, Equinor’s executive vice president for Development and Production Norway, Arne Sigve Nylund, presented an amended plan for development and operation (PDO) to the minister of petroleum and energy, Kjell-Børge Freiberg, at the Sandefjord Conference on Tuesday, January 15, 2019.

With any Arctic drilling, the possibility of an arctic oil spill in the highly remote regions offshore of Alaska increases. Equinor has been awarded 29 new licenses by Norway’s Ministry of Petroleum and Energy as part of the Award in Predefined Areas (APA) for 2018 – 13 licenses as operator and 16 as partner.

Building on the success of its 25,000 km2 3D BroadSeis™ survey, which led to the recent Boudji-1 and Ivela-1 oil discoveries, CGG is extending its Gabon multi-client data footprint with a 9,800-km long-offset 2D seismic survey in an unexplored deepwater area of the South Basin. A subset of the data over the offered license blocks will be available in advance of Gabon’s 12th offshore licensing round planned for June 2019.

Airborne Oil & Gas B.V. announces it has been awarded a contract from TOTAL to supply a TCP (Thermoplastic Composite Pipe) Jumper for a deepwater project in West Africa. The field is located approximately 150 km offshore in water depths of up to 1600 m. This contract follows the successful completion of a rigorous testing program, in which TOTAL qualified Airborne Oil & Gas’ TCP Water Injection Jumper for permanent subsea applications.
