IMCA Actively Participates in eCMID Online Festival of Knowledge

The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) will be actively participating in an eCMID online festival of knowledge aimed at sharing the latest updates with Accredited Vessel Inspectors (AVIs).

The IMCA eCMID system provides the marine and offshore industry with standardised formats for vessel inspection and offers a safety management system (SMS) ‘health check’. Using eCMID can help improve the quality and consistency of inspections, as well as reducing the frequency of inspections on individual vessels through the adoption of a commonly recognised inspection process.

About eCMID

It offers a safety management system (SMS) ‘health check’ and can help improve the quality and consistency of inspections, as well as reducing the frequency of inspections on individual vessels through the adoption of a commonly recognised inspection process.

About IIMS

The International Institute of Marine Surveying (IIMS) is an independent, non-political organization promoting the professionalism, recognition and training of marine surveyors worldwide. IIMS is the accrediting body that provides certification for eCMID Vessel Inspectors.

The IIMS defines marine surveying as: “The service provided to maritime and transport organizations in general and the production of guidance reports for all other bodies connected with maritime operations or maritime trade”.

The IIMS is the leading professional body for marine surveyors and has a worldwide membership of around 1,000 individuals in over 90 countries. It is the largest organization of its kind and seeks to represent its industry to government and non-governmental organizations such as the International Marine Organization (IMO), Coastguards, insurance companies and ship owners.

The IIMS is led by a President, supported by a Vice President and a Management Board. This structure is supported by a Chief Executive Officer and head office team based at Portchester in the UK. In addition, there are overseas representatives in 17 regions worldwide.
