Global OCEANS 2020 Singapore – U.S. Gulf Coast Virtual Conference

While safety concerns around the COVID-19 pandemic prevented OCEANS 2020 Singapore and OCEANS 2020 Gulf Coast from being held in-person, event co-sponsors, the Marine Technology Society and the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society, combined the two events into a global virtual conference. Organizers expect 1,000 scientists and engineers from across the globe will gather virtually to attend OCEANS 2020 Singapore – U.S. Gulf Coast on October 5 - 14.

Global OCEANS 2020: Singapore – U.S. Gulf Coast will feature a mix of live and on-demand events. More than 500 technical sessions, 33 poster sessions, five tutorials, and four keynotes will be presented.

“The theme of GLOBAL OCEANS 2020 takes into account both our U.S. Gulf Coast focus on the growing blue economy, and Singapore's focus on sustaining a modern, healthy, secure, and protective use of the ocean. Through both green ports and blue economies, our international collaboration spans a broad spectrum of efforts and like-minded leadership,” said OCEANS Planning Committee Co-Chair Thomas Wissing, Naval Oceanographic Office. “Both Singapore and the U.S. have a recognizable interest in promoting marine technological growth, and expanding our education and international collaboration, propelling the world forward.”

Attracting presenters and attendees from around the world, OCEANS 2020 Singapore – Gulf Coast will feature a Virtual Exhibit Hall filled with manufacturers and service providers offering hardware and analytics critical to ongoing study. Participants – ranging from undergraduate students attending their first professional conference to seasoned investigators and inventors – come to learn the latest ocean science results during paper and poster presentations, find out about about cutting-edge technologies, and build professional networks.
