CSA Strengthens HSSE and Dive Safety Management

CSA Ocean Sciences Inc. (CSA), known for its integrated approach to science, operations, and safety in the global offshore environment, announces the addition of an experienced and versatile team member Eirik Kydland, who will serve a dual position of Diving Safety Officer (DSO) and Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) Manager at the Stuart, Florida headquarters.

csa ocean sciences logoMr. Kydland brings his substantial expertise to support and enhance CSA’s scientific diving program, global health and safety programs, and extensive operational activities in the U.S. and internationally. He will work closely with CSA senior management, scientists, scientific divers, and operations specialists to advance the diving program and continue CSA’s commitment to a robust corporate Safety Culture.

Eirik Kydland Edited PLMr. Kydland’s diverse background, training, and experience are an outstanding asset to the global CSA organization. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh and spent years as a paramedic in the surrounding neighborhoods of Pittsburgh. His extensive diving qualifications include Diver Medical Technician-Advanced from CDA Technical Institute and the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology; instructor ratings in Deep Technical Diving and Deep Trimix Diving; Diving Emergency Management Provider-Instructor; and more than a dozen specialty instructor ratings. As a certified Oil and Gas Health and Safety Professional, he offers the breadth and expertise of an integrated, applied, multidisciplinary background that is consistent with CSA’s commitment to excellence in marine environmental consulting.

“I am excited and privileged to have the opportunity to provide safety oversight for some of the most dedicated, qualified, and experienced scientific divers and subject matter experts in the industry,” said Kydland.

Prior to joining the CSA team, Mr. Kydland gained extensive teaching experience as an Instructor Trainer at a U.S.-based professional career dive school, teaching future instructors with a focus on Technical Diving, Dive Medicine, and Physiology. He previously served as a Diving Safety Officer for a marine resource studies facility in the Turks & Caicos and volunteered as the Western Pennsylvania District Coordinator for an international disaster response team.

CSA welcomes the addition of Mr. Kydland who will receive specialized training on CSA procedures to rotate through the role of Duty Manager, supporting CSA’s global environmental programs. For more information on CSA’s HSSE program, visit CSA Ocean Sciences website.
